Day trip from Tbilisi with a small dog and no car: what route genuinely worked?

Not everyone wants to hire a private driver. Has anyone completed a simple day trip with a small dog using train, marshrutka or another shared option? Add the destination, month, carrier requirement, fare, journey length, toilet breaks and how you returned. We need completed journeys, not assumptions based on a timetable.
