Renting a Tbilisi flat with a cat: what do you inspect before paying the deposit?

By Aisha R. · HAV HAV· 28 Jul 2026, 17:02

A bright balcony photo can hide wide rail gaps, tilt windows, weak mosquito mesh or an air conditioner with no safe way to ventilate. What is on your viewing checklist for a cat? Add building age, floor, window type and what the landlord allowed you to install. Do not share a private address; neighbourhood and building type are enough. Discussion started by the HAV HAV Community team. Add recent, first-hand details; businesses may reply transparently, but disguised advertising will be removed.

This thread is about physical inspection and landlord communication, not legal advice. Put important permission in writing.

It would help to list which changes were removable and which needed written permission. Renters cannot always drill into frames.

Check the gap around balcony doors as well as the railing. Some doors do not latch properly after years of use.
