Reactive dog and a new sitter: how did you handle the first meeting in Tbilisi?

By Sam K. · HAV HAV· 23 Jul 2026, 22:53

For a nervous or reactive dog, “just meet in the lobby” may be a terrible plan. Owners and carers: where did you meet, how long did you allow, did you walk together first, and what made you cancel? Add the dog's size and triggers without turning this into a breed argument. We want practical handover routines that protect the dog, carer and neighbours. Did anyone do two short meetings instead of one long trial? That may be easier for a dog that needs time.

Building lifts and narrow entrances matter in Tbilisi. Mention if you chose a quieter outdoor meeting point first.

Carers should never be pressured to accept a dog after a safety concern. Describe behaviour honestly before meeting.
